Our Mission
From the desk of our Managing
Director, Mr. Graham Norris
In 2003, we achieved ISO 9001 :
2000 quality accreditation from Det Norske Veritas. In the process, we were
asked to describe our mission statement and our process in a succinct and
unambiguous manner.
Ø
Our
function is:
“Transporting cargo containers on
short haul and long haul routes through a combination of deployed ships and
capacity purchased from other sources”
Ø
Our
Quality policy is to:
“Provide cargo shipping services
of the highest possible standards, which meet our customer’s needs, expectations
of quality, safety and reliability”
“Anticipate customer needs in the
pursuit of excellence”
“Constantly develop our human
resources with appropriate training”
“Create a team-based approach to
achieving our objectives”
“Accomplish our quality
objectives by establishing, implementing, maintaining and complying with a
documented and effective quality assurance system which fully complies with the
requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and any local / international laws and
regulations”
Let me assure you that these are
not empty words. The process of gaining and keeping accreditation can be tedious, or it can
be energising. We choose to use the opportunity to continually re-examine the way in
which we do business. Whilst many of our practices were found to be the best way
to get the job done, many were not. It is rewarding to know that every aspect of
our process has been thoroughly examined, and we now have procedures in place of
which we can be rightly proud.
I would like to thank those
responsible for guiding us through this challenging, and ultimately rewarding
process. I would further pledge the absolute commitment of every member of our
team in upholding the standards which we have set for ourselves.
I would also like to add that our
adherence to the above goals is a minimum standard only. I would like to share
with you some of our other goals, not covered specifically in our quality
policy.
The globalization of trade in
recent years, with the inherent differences in cultures, accepted business
practice and conflict of laws has served to increase the need for a written
statement setting out the way in which our organization operates and the
principles which guide these actions.
In the same way that we observe
the universal laws of nature in order to live in harmony, we believe that there
are universal moral principles and laws which govern our existence. These
immutable ethical laws form the basis of constructive and healthy interaction
between people everywhere and transcend changing national, cultural, religious
and political divisions. In order for an organization to function effectively,
remain healthy, and endure the test of time, these laws need to be understood
and respected. In the current context, these laws may be summed up in the values
of Honesty, Justice, and Mutual Respect.
